“Tell Me About Love“ is the best play of this year’s INFANT Festival in Novi Sad

Last night, June 19, the 52nd International Festival of Alternative and New Theatre – INFANT ended on the „Jovan Đorđević“ stage. The diptych „Tell Me About Love“ by choreographers Enrico Morelli and Itzik Galili, performed by the SNT Ballet, was chosen as the best play of the Festival.

From June 15 to 19, the expert jury, consisting of playwright Vesna Radovanović, set designer Vanja Magić and playwright Nikolina Đukanović, had the opportunity to watch six plays chosen by the Festival selector, director Aleksandar Popovski.

After watching the performances, the jury unanimously decided to award the Best Performance Award to the contemporary dance performance “Tell Me About Love”, i.e. the pieces “Elegy” by choreographer Enrico Morelli and “Balcony of Love” by choreographer Itzik Galili, produced by the Serbian National Theatre. “Tell Me About Love” is a unique theatrical spectacle, not often seen on our stages. The collaboration of foreign choreographers and ballet dancers of the SNT has given rise to a superb performance. The performers, well-coordinated and harmonious in movement and expression, perform as one stage being, emotionally and powerfully, demonstrating virtuoso skill and precision, as well as the primordial pleasure of truly surrendering to art. Choreographer Galili defined it as a deep feeling of simple joy. The absence of scenography and a minimum of props, along with exceptional lighting design and effective costumes, give the performance a suggestive and sumptuous visual identity that, in accordance with the equally striking sound dimension, builds harmony between movement and sound, creating the effect of a poetic experience and an unforgettable atmosphere, according to the jury’s explanation, among other things. At the same time, last night’s performance of the play „Tell Me About Love“ marked the end of the ballet season at the SNT. The new encounter with the audience of this play will be in Italy, at the opening of the Dance Festival in Gorizia, the European Capital of Culture in 2025.
