The comic opera A Stuck-up Woman was produced for the first time at the Serbian National Theatre in 1993 in its integral form. In May 2006, a completely new version of the opera, adapted for the Chamber Stage, was produced. The famous Jovan Sterija Popovic's story about a widow of the village shoemaker, who fancy herself to be a noble lady and stops at nothing to make sure everyone in her house is also "noble", is depicted in a lively rhythm with a good sense of effective humour.
"This version of A Stuck-up Woman abounds in comical twists, sparkly comments, comical situations, and balanced gags. Typical personality traits of some characters are identified with precision and underscored. Fema's silliness in director Gordana Kamenarovlc's rendition arouses sympathy and invites laughter instead snideness. In a word, the Opera repertoire is enriched with a bright musical comedy."
