Chekhov's dramatic master-piece speaking in an anthological way of the gap between illusion and reality, insoluble dilemmas of loneliness, as well as inner causes of any fundamental existential crisis, keeps provoking contemporary theatre creators. By its method of characterization the drama Three Sisters is more polyvalent and multilayered than Uncle Vanya, while the subtleness of its atmosphere makes it more inspiring for staging than The Cherry Orchard. It will provide Radoslav Mllenkovic with an exceptionally valuable stimulus for examining universal questions about new theatrical models, as well as the new social and psychological contexts, especially because of its close congeniality on the level of meaning with the post-modernist approaches to shaping characters, as well as the possibilities offered by the open internal dynamics of Chekhov's "anti-action".
