The play you are about to see is a combination of two adapted Slawomir Mrozek's comedies: THE POLICE and AMBASSADOR, with certain lines taken from several other well-known dramas of the same author. This
amalgam of the two comedies is both logical and natural, regarding the fact that Mrozek, more or less subtly, shows that internal and external enemies are a vital need of each and any administration so that it can convince its people more easily of the institutions' indispensability (primarily the secret police), while the proclaimed purpose of the institutions is to serve the very people. In practice, as it is commonly known, such institutions are very easily bureaucratized and often serve only their own purposes, and then their activities are mainly focused on maintaining the illusion of their indispensability.
